Some days go so fast that it is hard to remember to eat. WHAT?? I get this a lot from my clients, and it is one of the worst things to do to your body! For instance, I give out this analogy to my clients our bodies are like cars and that your car needs fuel to operate, so we need to remind ourselves that we also are like a car and we need to keep our tank full so we can operate at its full potential.
It is extremely important that you get in all your meals to ensure you keep your energy levels high and to lose weight. Skipping meals will not help to increase your weight loss; in fact, it may have the opposite effect!
So here is a list some of my go to’s that I give my clients to ensure they get in proper meals or snacks in and a tidbit on getting enough water through out the day:
1.Protein shakes:Add protein powder, fruit and any green and you instantly have a high protein, low calorie drink that helps you stay on track with your daily fruit and vegetable intake. I recommend the organic grass-fed cows whey protein from Isagenix.
2. Nuts: You need only a small handful to provide you with fuel from protein and fat. These are very easy to store in the office or in your gym bag for emergencies. Does anyone else get cranky when they are hungry?? Here is a tip: I will get a big bag of almonds and buy snack size baggies and measure out an ounce of almonds in each bag. If I’m in a hurry, I will grab and go!
3. Water: spend a little money on a good refillable water container. It’s worth it. If you are feeling thirsty, you are probably already a little dehydrated!
*Here is the one that I use daily, it holds 8 cups and I drink two of these a day. I got mine at Target in the food container section.
4. Greek yogurt: Low calorie, high protein, and delicious. My recommendation lest amount of sugar and Fage Total 0% plain greek yogurt: at 90 calories and 7 grams of sugar. A tip to make the yogurt taste even better: Add in some berries or crushed nuts to make it have a sweeter or richer taste!
5. Berries: These are full of antioxidants and they are brain food. If you are sharp and alert, you will have the mental power to PUSH during your workout! Make sure to wash them and put them into little containers for fast grab on the go!
6. Hard boil eggs: Boil the eggs in the beginning of the week and have them for your breakfast or snacks! Add some spices on the egg to add the flavor, I like the Salt Free Ms. Dash in all flavors or paprika and pepper!
This list is short but it makes it easier to pick from when you are in a hurry, if you have something to add please comment!
