Sometimes in life we get so caught up in looking towards the future rather than really taking each day for its own purpose in life. One of the great quotes that I try to live by is “Don’t count the days, make the days count!” It has officially been a year (June 16) that I started working with Lindsey in my studio. I can vividly remember Lindsey walking in that day and she was not the person she once was. She wasn’t her happy, cheerful, and confident self that I once knew. I knew this was not the Lindsey she wanted to be in life. Over the past 3 years I had been seeing her for 3 months at a time–2-3 times a year, but this time it was a full year since I had seen her last. Lindsey was crazy busy with a full time school schedule, working full time, plus being a newlywed. She barely had time to breathe!
But over that year she put her health on the back burner and did what she knew she needed to do: finish school and still keep working. During that year, her main obstacles that kept her from taking care of herself were like many people’s struggles — finding the time and motivation to get to the gym and efficiently using the time to get the most out of her workouts. She mostly struggled a lot with what to eat, how much to eat, and when to eat. She struggled with sweets, which was hard for her to maintain self-control when it came to eating desserts.
When I figured out what she wanted we started a plan and found what would work for her. We set up the strength training days and cardio days, made sure she had been journaling (that is key), and giving her meal ideas that made her not feel like she was on a so called “diet.” She was creating her new lifestyle with yummy, creative foods that didn’t taste like cardboard.
As a team, we made sure she would see me every week and get in group training sessions—meeting 2-3X a week. Otherwise, she was doing it all herself. Presently, she has been working out on the Online Determinite Training program and I’ve been seeing her on weekends. Seeing her less often is like seeing a brand new person every week. Her changes are happening on a weekly basis. It is mind-blowing! She not only looks like a different person, but her personality is really strong, she feels strong, and she is confident and happy.
I weighed and measured her this weekend and I got the totals from her one year and this is what Lindsey has lost: 33 LBS. and 27 inches. HOLY WOWZA! This makes my day—I’m dancing like no one is watching. She has made me so proud that for her reward her and two others (who will also have a featured blog this week) will be rewarded with a photo shoot for all the hard work they put in. You may also have a chance to see them on a much bigger scale because they will be on my first billboard that will be out next month.
Lindsey had gone from being out of breath after a short walk around the block to being able to complete Determinites Online Training and Dayna’s Group Training workouts without passing out (although I still feel like it sometimes). She has been running 3 miles in 27 minutes which is her new time. She has changed her eating habits which still include eating super delicious food but having new healthy recipes that make her feel like she is cheating. I can tell she is super happy with her results because her confidence now radiates off of her face every time I see her. I even get a little teary eyed when I see her – she has inspired many people, including myself, to make my program better and better every day because these results are so empowering.
This is a little message from Lindsey:
If you feel like giving up…I’ve been there, don’t quit—you’ve got this! If you have to roll out of bed because you can’t sit up or if you don’t want to sit because your legs shake from your workout or they feel like they could give out after your workout…I’ve been there. If you spill your coffee because your arms are too weak and sore to hold it…Yup, I’ve been there too! This pain is all worth it, to be healthy for you and your family. I’m so glad to be a part of the Determinite community as great as this! Hope this gives everyone a little inspiration for starting your new journey!
I’m very honored that I was able to follow Lindsey on her new journey. She is definitely creating a new life and helping others in the process.
