Our future is a constant thought in our minds. Whether its thinking about what we will do later in the day, tomorrow, next week or 10 years from now, there is always something we are planning on wanting, doing or having.
But how often do we give action to our thoughts and plans to actually make it happen?
I may geek myself out a little bit, but my favorite movie of all time is Back to the Future II. I love looking into the future to see what is possible and that movie makes me think of the unknown. The story is obviously fictitious, but it gets me thinking, the future is bright, but we may need a little encouragement and some added steps to get there.
Let me break out in song for a second…“the future’s so bright we gotta wear shades”… whenever I can add lyrics, I will.
Back to being serious again…not sure about you, but the word future has a new meaning for me. I think about the goals I either want to create or I am in the process of creating. I thought intensely about the habits that have gotten me to where I am, the habits that held me back and the habits I need to get me to where I’m going.
I have discovered that not only do I have great connections between goals and habits, but this is something I need to revisit often.
I invite you to do the same, if your goals and future are important to you, observe and take inventory of your habits.
Answer some of these questions to help along your future goals, revisit your goals every week and have them out so you can see them as motivation:
What are your goals a month from now?
What are you goals 6 months from now?
What are your goals a year from now?
What are your strong attributes that will help get you to those goals?
Write down the proper steps to get you to each one of your goals. Let me remind you of something I have learned about goal setting, if you have too many goals it may actually bombard you and get in the way of accomplishing the goals, because you are being thrown in too many directions. If you start with a few you can put the blinders on and be more focused. Make sure that you have fun, it is doable and they are challenging and something you passionately want. Make sure you take action and keep it consistent! Consistency + action=accomplished goals.
