Ever wonder how to get spa worthy skin, without spending your entire pay check?? I will give you some of my tips to get that spa worthy skin! Below are the tools that I use on a daily basis, these total less than 5.00 at Sally beauty. The facial scubber is like the clarisonic, the only thing that doesn’t do is move. But your arm and hand does! My exfoliating gloves are the best to give me baby soft skin, I will never not use these… I’m hooked! As for soft feet, this is my go to-the Mr. Pumice, this is great tool to keep your feel healthy, clean, and soft!
If you are preparing for DIY spa day these are some tips to escape your stress and feel a little pampered on a dime, and with your own clean products.
The first thing you’ll probably want to do is clean your bathroom to create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Have your favorite candle burning, or create a room spray with essential oils, younglivings are my favorite!!
Have some fluffy towels, a personalized robe and slippers on hand. These will help you feel extra pampered!
Pick which treatments you are going to do. You’ll want to make sure you have the ingredients available. Prepare all treatments before starting your spa day at home.
Figure in about an hour for each treatment from start to finish. Relax and enjoy – don’t rush through it.
Turn on some music. Pick your favorite relaxing music, whether it is classical or nature sounds.
Brew up some tea or make a healthy fruit smoothie to sip on while you enjoy your relaxing spa day at home, or indulge in a gourmet chocolate treat. Dark chocolate is full of antioxidants and lowers your blood pressure
My DIY replenish your skin mask:
I teaspoon of 99.8% fat free yogurt
1 teaspoon powder green tea
1/4 teaspoon of manuka honey
Mix and leave on the face for 10 minutes.
Your skin will feel more hydrated and supple!
I like this recipe and will likely continue using it. It’s definitely cheaper and natural than going to get a facial at a spa. But more importantly, I get antioxidant benefits plus the yogurt and manuka honey definitely help to hydrate my skin better, leaving it softer and more supple. However, just like most facial masks, the effects are not to lasting so it needs to be sustained with continual usage. The only drawback is the smell of the yogurt isn’t at all delish!
On to the body scrubs!! I love these!!
Body scrubs are great to use about once a week, than I use my exfoliating glove on the other days. By scrubbing off the top layer of dead skin cells your skin will feel smoother and your moisturizer will penetrate easier. Rub in a circular motion toward the heart for increased circulation. I really beleive that these really help my skin feel baby soft!
BROWN SUGAR BODY SCRUB
(Sugar is a natural exfoliant)
INGREDIENTS:
* 2 cups brown sugar
* 1 cup honey
* 3 Tbs. lemon juice
* 2 tsp. ginger
DIRECTIONS:
Grate fresh ginger, or use the powdered variety if fresh is not available. Mix all ingredients then take into the shower with you and apply handfuls at a time to skin in a circular motion to polish the skin. Rinse off and pat dry then apply your favorite body lotion.
* Note: Should keep for several days in the refrigerator in a closed plastic container.
COFFEE BODY SCRUB
(Caffeine is known to tone and firm skin)
INGREDIENTS:
* 2 cups of coarsely ground coffee
* 1/2 cup raw sugar or sea salt
* 2-3 T massage oil
DIRECTIONS:
Mix all ingredients together. Take a hot shower to moisten your skin and open your pores. Using wide, circular motions, rub the coffee scrub onto your skin with strong, even pressure. Shower off, pat skin dry, and apply a thin layer of your favorite body lotion.
SALT SCRUB
This takes a few more ingredients that you may not have on hand, but has luxurious results.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup oil (sweet almond, grapeseed or rice bran oil)
1 cup sea salt (You can also substitute sugar, which is gentler)
5 drops essential oils. (The oil you choose for your body scrub depends on the result you want. )
DIRECTIONS:
Combine the oil and salt in a bowl and mix well. Add essential oil and combine well. To use, apply to dry skin using circular strokes to exfoliate the skin. Sit on the side of the tub to keep the scrub from making a mess. Don’t use a salt scrub if you have any cuts in your skin. Shower off or follow with a warm bath, then apply your favorite lotion.
