I’m going to get real here, I like food. I’m a foodie, I like cooking food and I like to eat it. So when my husband announced, “Let’s do a cleanse!” I was like, “Go ahead, have fun with that.” I have done my share of cleanses/detoxes and I always felt shaky, moody, light-headed and so–o hungry I could eat my own arm and possibly my neighbors. Okay, maybe I’m taking things a bit too far, but for realz dog, I was hungry, like I said, I LIKE FOOD!
The hubby, his convincing smirk, and possibly the promise of a foot rub, swayed my anti-detox ways. I caved, but it was a good thing, the magic detox was just what I needed. A detox with no side effects AND I could still eat the foods I love, happy dance!!!
I enjoy smoothies and like most people, I am fond of a warm meal, a well-balanced meal, snuggled in at the kitchen table with my family or those rare alone times, when I enjoy the quiet with my tasteful bites. So, I was happy I could still incorporate both of these delights with this new detox.
Example of my meals at lunch and dinner:
Some people asked, why do a detox if I eat well most of the time. My reason is this: to rid myself of environmental toxins, remove impurities from the blood in the liver (where toxins are processed for elimination), and to also eliminate toxins through the kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymph and skin. And in general people should do two detox’s a year. When your organs are sluggish because of toxins, it can compromise the way your body filters and can slow down what your body is meant to do.
Other people do a detox to lose weight and inches, get rid of cravings, feel more energy, jump start their metabolism, enhance their mental clarity, rid themselves of that “sluggish” feeling, and just to feel overall better.
For me, I wanted to do this to get rid of sweet tooth cravings, I eat fairly well, but I felt like nothing was satisfying this craving. I was also feeling sluggish in the morning and I wanted to just FEEL better. My desire is not to lose weight, although I did a little in the short 3 days. I dropped from 126 lbs. to 123 lbs. which is my normal, and I lost 5 inches overall, so, I’ll take it. My biggest thrill of the detox, I’m most excited of how I feel, even with my daughter not sleeping since Sunday (Argh!), I was able to get up earlier in the morning, 5:45a.m., without my alarm and I felt well rested, this is HUGE for me. I had much more energy during my workout and was able to increase my weight while doing most of my strength training workouts. I went into this week thinking I would have to tone down my workouts, but to my surprise, I had my best week. Overall, I feel great and it is only the 3rd day.
Here are my results from Monday 3/10/14-Thursday 3/13/14:
It might not look like much, but I can definitely see a difference in my stomach. But again, I do not need to lose weight and that is not my goal. My husband, Rusty’s goal is to lose weight and feel better—I will include his results on Monday after the full 6 days.
Here are the details on the detox…
The detox we went with is called the Detox Drop. My friend, Robert Ferguson, CEO of Diet Free Life, created this detox as a part of his program. He has made this detox so incredibly easy, no side effects, and no cravings— feeling full the entire day. Like I said, I have tried many different programs and this one was by far the best!
We started our detox on Monday, March 10th and Sunday, March 9th was our day to prepare food, measure out our fruits and make sure we knew what we were doing so we had no excuses getting in our way. We cooked up a storm and made enough to last three days, and tonight, Thursday, March 13th we are going to prepare for the next few days. Success is keeping yourself prepared and consistent. Our Monday was like a normal day, we ate our food like normal and the last three days felt great—couldn’t be happier!

[…] might have seen my blog post about the Detox Drop (http://daynadetersfitness.com/dropping-like-detox/), I did the 3-day detox and my hubby did the 6-day. He had different goals than I and he exceeded […]
How much weight did you lose overall and is it only shakes or whats behind it that its supposed to be so cleansing
I lost 3lbs. and 5 inches. I wasn’t detoxing to lose weight, since I do not need to lose weight–I wanted to do a yearly detox to help my organs do their job more effectively. My husband who needed to lose a little weight, lost 8.5 lbs. and 12 inches. We had shakes for breakfast and lunch, but you can also have a fat burning meal for all meals (your simple meal plan is included in the system). At dinner we ate our meal, chicken, green veggies and sweet potatoes. The cleansing comes from the kit you would need to purchase, it is a simple but effective detox that is gentle to the system.
