I’m a dreamer, a visionary person. I envision myself where I want to go and what I want to do. Some of my visions are very raw and real; some have come true–some are yet to come.
My hubby made a pact with me that this weekend he would do the goal setting with me. I have done them mostly by myself and that is still great and all, but I really wanted the extra support and positive reinforcements this time around. So that is what we did this weekend. I got all my favorite books out that have helped me keep my focus of what I want, along with positive affirmations and my vision board that I got from Jack Canfield’s site and his Law of Attraction book and DVDs. Yes, this is some serious stuff… I pulled out all the goods.
Some people ask what my goals are and why I write them down. What I have learned is that to achieve a goal or a vision you must plan how to make it happen. You cannot ‘do’ a goal or a vision. Instead you must do the things that enable it – usually several things in several steps.
A goal without a plan remains just a goal or a wish. Many people have visions, intentions, ideas, or dreams that never happen because they are not planned.
Since I’m a dreamer, I think I can do anything. But I have learned from many books that you NEED dates and details of what you want. I always say if you can dream it, it will happen. But in reality you have to work your rear off to get what you want. I did dream about having an online training program and at-home personal training studio, but in all honesty it took a lot of sweat, tears, stress and a ton of crabby moments. But it happened because I took the steps to get there. Like anything , you NEED to take small steps to get to your BIG goals. Have you ever seen anyone lose 20 lbs. in a day? Maybe….. if they just gave birth! But it takes steps to get to that 20 lbs. weight loss goal.
My husband and I wrote our goals out and then after we told each other what our goals were for month 1, month 3, month 6, month 9 and 1 year. I discovered my goals are a bit over reaching but that is what I do because I’m determined to get stuff DONE. My hubby, on the other hand, is a realist, but that is a good thing because it balances us out. Our goals range from Life Goals, Career Goals, Family Goals, Personal Health Goals, and Fun Goals. Although we both had different goals, we both wanted the same thing in life: happiness.
So this is the deal, once you write your goals down, you have to look at them EVERY DAY. Once in the morning, once in the middle of the day, and once before bed..…every day. Believe that it will happen, and believe that it is yours. Your goals can be different than mine, can be different from your partner, your friend or family member. That is what is great about individual goal setting.
Another thing to do is write it out like it is yours. Own your goals. I am…I have…I’m making..etc. A huge pointer is to never put a negative comment in there—always keep it positive. For example, instead of “I want to get out of debt” say “I have an abundance of money.” Start with “I am so happy and grateful now that…” and finish the sentence (or paragraph) telling the universe what it is that you want. Write it in the present tense as if you have it right now. Avoid negation terms. Every day until your wish comes true, close your eyes and imagine your desire as if it’s happening right now.
The law of attraction states that every positive or negative event that happened with you was attracted by you. Say that special friend loaned you money when you didn’t have any. You attracted that, even without your awareness of using the law. Say that teacher, classmate, client, or co-worker gave you a hard time during the day. You attracted that, too. Again, we are using the law every second of every day. You’ve even attracted reading this article! There are really only three basic steps: ask, believe, and receive. However, the point of this article is to break those three steps down into simpler, more concise ones.
Then make sure you’re feeling the way you would after receiving your goal. You must act, speak, and think as if you are receiving it now. This is actually the most important, powerful step in using the Law of Attraction because this is where it starts working, and sometimes if you do this you don’t feel like you need it anymore because you FEEL like you already have it–and then the universe will manifest this thought and feeling and you will receive it.
One of my personal goals I have down is to be gracious every day, write down every day what the Universe has given me. I’m thankful for what I have already been given. The Universe has done a lot of things for me so I like to pay back the Universe with some gratitude that will motivate the Universe to do even more things and will draw more things into my life.
If you were once bullied and that person stopped, that’s one thing to be thankful for. If you were focused on getting a job but it fell through but later on got your dream job—those are blessings in disguise. You should thank the Universe for every process in life. Showing gratitude will turbo boost the Universe to manifest your request faster.
I have realized from my perspective from really focusing and practicing this new way of life is that you really need to be patient. Don’t get upset if these things don’t happen immediately. Don’t stress the “how” it will happen. Let the Universe do it for you. When you take the Universe’s job of worrying about the “how,” this says you’re lacking faith and that you’re telling the Universe what to do when the Universe has far greater knowledge and power.
So to end this blog today, focus your attention on your ideas, goals, and dreams to get you moving in the right direction one step at a time. Focusing on those things can help you grow, prosper, create your goal, and make a positive difference. So remember: good feelings = good reality. Feel GOOD = positive life.

Do you have a recommended book list?
Yes! The books I’m reading right now are The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, and The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle, The Law of Attraction, The Success Principles both from Jack Canfield. I also use a journal to write down what I’m grateful for from Jack Canfield on a daily basis. But you can easily use a regular note pad.
I absolutely love this Dayna! Great blog, and I am totally going to work on this!!! Thanks for sharing!
