When we hear the word ‘discipline’ we picture our parents or ourselves as the parent, wagging a finger directing what needs to be done or demonstrating what was done is not good. Discipline should not be viewed as something negative. In fact, discipline is healthy and necessary when pursuing fitness and well being. Discipline allows us to take back control of our lives when things feel out of control.
By providing focus, guidance and accountability, discipline helps us prosper and grow. First and foremost, be honest, don’t beat yourself up, discipline should not be about belittling yourself when you fail to reach a goal or can’t find the motivation to workout or maintain your diet. Discipline should be used as a way to reign back in your goals.
Practice positives, discipline is about nurturing positivity through our accomplishments.
Practice patience, when we are motivated and have our minds set on a goal, we can easily become impatient. Remember that fitness and well being are not about quick fixes, but balance and longevity. And lastly, consistency, establish a schedule for your workouts.
